Charlie Thrower Thomas, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on November 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Charlie Cecil Thomas, Jr. and Ruth Thrower Thomas.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Charlie had also served with the Charlotte Police Department and Baltimore Police Department in Maryland. He was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. Charlie loved NASCAR and his canine companion, “Popeye”, but most of all, his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Deanna Thomas; one daughter, Holly Suiter (Larry); one sister, Ruth Buchanan (Joe); one brother, Bobby Thomas (Cindy); five grandchildren, Mallory Suiter (Jared), Kayla Blevins (Andy), Dylan Suiter, Dustin Suiter and Carly Suiter; and three great grandchildren, Wesson and Walker Blevins and Jaden Roy.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 04, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Cross Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Prevette and Rev. Ryan Bennett officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Sgt. E L Randolph Chapter 57 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
