Charlie Childers

Charlie Raye Patton Childers, age 95, of Nebo, NC passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Deer Park Health & Rehab, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Childers was born March 7, 1922 in Burke County, NC to the late Charlie Logan Patton and Della Minerva Epley Patton.  She retired from Drexel Furniture after 43 years of service and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 85 years where she served as a Deaconess.   Mrs. Childers enjoyed sewing, making quilts, growing and nurturing flowers, and cooking.  Everyone especially loved her banana pudding!  She also loved her dog, Sweetie.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two sons, Broadus James Martin and Larry Randall Childers.

Left behind to cherish her memories are seven children, Doris Woody (Roy), Carroll Martin (Carol), Bobby Martin (Debra), Jimmy Martin (Wanda), Karen Fazio (Steven), Ralph Childers (Brandy) and Crystal Morrow (Jason); two brothers, Mr. & Mrs. Gene Patton and James Patton (Judy); and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM at the church with Pastor Ron Davis officiating.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Pinnacle Methodist Church Cemetery.
