Charles Ray Tipton

Charles Ray Tipton, age 75, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 20, 2022. He was born on December 24, 1946, in McDowell County, North Carolina to the late Howard and Gladys Carver Tipton.

Ray was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. He retired as an Assistant Chief of the Glenwood Fire Department, with 25 years of service. Ray worked a number of positions at Marion Manufacturing over a period of 32 years. He was known as an avid Braves fan, loved NASCAR and traveling to the
beach. Ray was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Owensby Tipton; his son, Donnie Tipton (Maureen); one sister, Marlene T. Ward; two brothers, Grady Tipton (Tamara) and Max Tipton (Michelle); two grandchildren, Brianna Tipton Blake (Daniel) and Matthew Tipton; one great-granddaughter, Lyla Marie Blake and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Glenwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Brewer and Paul Baker officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at the church. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
