Charles Steven King

Charles Steven King, 76, of Old Fort, passed away at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Black Mountain on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Steve was born in McDowell County on May 21, 1948 to the late Charles King and the late Sue Gaddy King. 

Steve was a proud veteran of the US Army. Most of his work career was spent as a firefighter. He enjoyed sports of all kinds but was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Steve was known as a giving person who really enjoyed helping others.  

Left behind to cherish his memory are a brother, William “Allen” King (Diane); sister, Patsy King Hunter (Tom); his loving companion, Louise Lewis and several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to recognize and thank the North Carolina Veterans Home of Black Mountain for taking good care of Steve.
