Charles "Stanley" Baker

Charles “Stanley” Baker, 63, of Morganton, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation after a period of declining health.

He was born in Rutherford County on August 13, 1960 to the late Charles Thomas Baker and Helen Ray Cogdell Baker. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Seay, Jr.; and two brothers, Tommy Baker and Roger Baker.

Stanley was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Union Mills. He loved the Lord and enjoyed worshipping with his church family when he was able. His family was so important to him, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Stanley always looked forward to get-togethers with his family and friends. Spending time with them never failed to do his heart good. He was an avid fisherman and went often with his grandsons and his friend Walt. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Robin Baker; two daughters, Melissa Chapman (Dewayne) and Angie Smith (Andy); grandsons, Jamie Chapman (Tiffany) and their children, Korbin, Axton, and Wrenley, John “Bubba” Drake (Destiny) and their children, Gauge and Kinsley, Noah Chapman, James Smith, Charles Smith, Huxley Seay, Sawyer Seay, Elijah Smith, Bryson Smith, Cole Lane, Brentley Chapman, Jaxson Williams, and Avery Smith; granddaughters, Brooke Chapman (Fiance, Tony Horton), Kayla Seay, Hadley Seay, Taylor Perry, Katlyn Conway, and several others that called him Pappaw including, Charleigh Laughter; and two sisters, Karen Carswell and Shirley McLean. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church, 675 Fortune Road, Union Mills with Pastor Matt Cook and Pastor Bud Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m.
