Charles Phillips

On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 17, 2019, Mr. Charles Phillips age 91 of Nebo, departed this earthly life at the Charles George VA Medical Center Inpatient Hospice House with his loving family by his side. The son of the late Raymond Phillips and Belle McCurry Phillips, he was born in Yancey County North Carolina on February 05, 1928. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of sixty six years Alice Wilson Phillips; brothers J.B. Phillips and Orville Phillips; sister Gloria Phillips.

Charles was a proud US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Following his service duty, he worked for the Ford Motor Company for over ten years. Later Charles became a self-employed auto body repairman for over fifty years. Charles was a very kind man and was loved by all that knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Charles’ memory are one brother, James Phillips and wife Mari; two sisters, Mildred Phillips Ward, and Sonda Sue Phillips Taylor, as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Charles’ life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Army immediately following the service in the chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the McCurry Cemetery in Burnsville, North Carolina.
