Charles Sherwood McLaughlin

Charles Sherwood McLaughlin, age 85, of Forest City, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Inpatient Unit in Forest City.  The son of the late Nelson and Pansy Arrowood McLaughlin, he was born in Yancey County, North Carolina on January 18, 1935.

Having been a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Charles loved spending time with is family.  He enjoyed working in his garden.  Charles retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Boone McLaughlin; two sons, Charles Stewart McLaughlin and his wife, Stephanie and Steven Patrick McLaughlin; one brother, Mack McLaughlin; and one sister, Moletia Calhoun and her husband, Carol.  Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Amber Molina, Daniel McLaughlin, Hanna McLaughlin, Erin McLaughlin and Steven Charles McLaughlin; and two great grandchildren, Maddox Molina and Anastasia McLaughlin. 

In keeping with Mr. McLaughlin’s wishes, no services will be held.
