Charles “Keith” McKenzie, age 54, of Nebo, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his residence. Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on July 06, 1963, he was the son of Vernie Mae McKenzie of Roseboro, North Carolina and the late Charles Albert McKenzie.
A man of many trades, Keith enjoyed tractor trailers, and at one time was a long-haul driver. He loved to “tinker” with old computers and rebuild them.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Tammy Waddell McKenzie of the home; three brothers, Mitchell McKenzie and his wife, Angela of Gastonia, North Carolina, Robert McKenzie of Clinton, North Carolina and Michael McKenzie of Roseboro, North Carolina; three step-sons, Steven Painter and his wife, Jennifer of Nebo, Christopher Painter and his companion, Tammy Brant of Mandeville, Louisiana and Brian Painter and his wife, Charrene of Forest City, North Carolina; and 12 step-grandchildren. Keith is also survived by his canine, Ralphie.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 02, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Drucilla Independent Fundamental Church with Rev. Steven Painter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. McKenzie’s memory are asked to consider, Bethlehem Baptist Church, which he supported, 7620 Watershed Road, Morganton, North Carolina 28655.
