Charles Emmett Lewis

Mr. Charles Emmett Lewis, age 87, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Rose Hill Retirement Community.

He was born on January 09, 1933 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Mose Arnold Lewis and Ava Rilla Cuaves Lewis.

Charles worked for many years as a plumber, and he will be remembered for the exceptional service he provided. A selfless individual, he truly cared for his customers and often traded items in exchange for service with those who otherwise could not afford it. Charles was a faithful, God-fearing man.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Maybelle Geddie Lewis, who passed away on January 08, 2008, and his second wife, Mary Lou Rhodes Crawford Lewis, who passed away on March 28, 2020. He is also preceded in death by six brothers, William Lewis, Rolf Lewis, Ross Lewis, Albert Lewis, James Lewis, and Huey Lewis; and one sister, Onealure Oldham.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children who will remember him as a great father, Keith Lewis (Mark Brown), Donald Lewis (Karen), Mark Lewis (Dana), Jane Willgohs (Mark), and Kelvin Lewis (Jolynn); a special stepdaughter, Lynn Bartlett (Paul); three siblings, Murray Lewis, Mary Bassett, and Minnie Anderson; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
