Charles King

Mr. Charles “Bill” King, age 92, passed away on Saturday November 11, 2017 at Autumn care of Marion surrounded by his loving Family. The son of the late John King and Dona Buchanan King, he was born on April 30, 1925.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II on the USS Forman which was a destroyer escort. Bill was retired from Great Lakes Carbon Plant. He also enjoyed house painting in his spare time. Bill was a member of West Marion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Sue Gaddy King.

He leaves behind two sons, Steve King, and Allen King; one daughter, Patsy King Hunter (Tom); one sister, Mildred June Wilson; three grandchildren, Heather Hunter Francis (Jim), Lucas Hunter (Wendy), and Billy King; four great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at McDowell Memorial Park at 3:00 P.M. with the Reverend Tom Hunter officiating.
