Charles R. Huskins, age 75, of Lenoir, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care-Kirkwood in Lenoir with his loving family by his side. Born in McDowell County, North Carolina on June 29, 1942, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Grace Condrey Huskins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, William F. Huskins.
Charles, who was raised in the Garden Creek area of Marion, was a member of Garden Creek Baptist Church up until he moved to pursue a job as an insurance agent. Following 35 years, he retired from State Farm Insurance Company in Lenoir. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, golfing and fishing, especially when visiting the beach. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy and would enjoy sharing his memories of his time serving.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gail Huskins of the home; two sons, Chris Huskins and James Huskins, both of Charlotte; one daughter, Melissa Huskins of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Sara Huskins and Matthew Huskins, both of Charlotte; one sister, Margaret Hunter and her son, Mike Huskins, who was a special nephew to Charles; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Dr. Chuck Brawley officiating. The family will receive friends will be held 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service in the chapel. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.
