On the morning of Tuesday, October 29, 2019, Charles Grady Conner, age 75, passed away at his residence with his loving family by his side. A native of McDowell County, Charles was born on September 14, 1944 to the late John and Ethel Arrowood Connor.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Bobbie Jean Hill and Pauline Revis.
Charles was known as a hard worker and a great handyman. He enjoyed woodworking, riding the parkway, going on picnics and vacations to the Oak Island. He loved caring for and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his yorkie “Baylee”.
Left to cherish Charles’ memory are his wife of fifty-one years, Gail Ward Conner; two daughters, Maria Conner Queen (Kevin) and Sherry Conner Baldridge (Cheyenne) and five grandchildren, Connor Queen, Abigail Queen, Sophie Baldridge, Josie Baldridge and Cassidy Baldridge. Also surviving Charles are his siblings, Clyde Connor (Diane), Roger Connor (Donna), Bufford Wayne Connor (Nancy), John Spurlin Connor, Jr. (Diane), Patricia Ann Stines (Dean Allen) and Frances Louise Reel.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Rocky Pass Memorial Park.
