Charles Baker

On the morning of Monday, February 17, 2020 Mr. Charles Baker, age 81, of Nebo, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.  His loving family was by his side.  Born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on April 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Robert and Grace Pitman Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother. Lloyd Baker.

Charles, following 35 years, retired as a supervisor at Marion Machine.  Having loved the Lord, he had a special place in his heart for helping those in need or if they just needed someone to talk to.  Charles enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, playing his guitar and singing as he played.  He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and most recently was serving as a Deacon at Foothills Christian Church in Marion. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Anne Baker; one daughter, Teresa Baker; three step-daughters, Lori Bartlett (Jeff), Cathy Davis (Don) and Judy Butner (Dennis); one sister, Lavenia Chandler; five grandchildren, Nicole, Wesley, Cole, Kayley and Autumn; two great grandchildren, Donovon and Jaxson; and one great grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by his canine companions, “Jim Bo” and “Jazz”. 

Due to possible inclement weather and sickness in the family, funeral services for Mr. Charles Baker have been postponed until Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Dennis Butner of Foothills Christian Church officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., prior to the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
