Chad Ryan Owenby

Mr. Chad Ryan Owenby, age 46, of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of Marion, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 08, 2020 at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville.  The son of Cecil Owenby of Black Mountain, North Carolina and the late Mildred Padgett Worley, Chad was born in Asheville, North Carolina on September 09, 1973.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Tom Owenby; and maternal grandmother, Louise Padgett.

Chad, who knew no stranger, had a heart the size of Texas.  He always had a way of making people he came into contact with smile.  He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and shared with others how Jesus helped him overcome obstacles in his life.  Chad was kind, caring, giving and thoughtful of others. He knew many trades, from welding, mechanicing and carpentry.  He was the baby of 5 children, who will be missed by his brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends. 

Chad would be so honored and proud to help another person to have the gift of life now that his life on earth is no more.  He doesn’t need his shell of a body because his soul is now in heaven with Jesus, his mother, and papaw.  One of his favorite bible verses would be Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.  This verse sure fits the occasion of Chad allowing God to use him even in death, to use his lifeless body to provide a new life for another.  What an honor.  He was a member of Catawba Falls Baptist Church in Old Fort.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Scott Owenby (Amanda) and Gary Owenby (Diane); two sisters, Teresa Brendle and Brenda McFee; many nieces and nephews; and several friends he had met along the way. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Catawba Falls Baptist Church in Old Fort with Preacher Phillip Wishon, Sr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
