Cecil Howard Pittman

Cecil Howard Pittman, 72, of Old Fort, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home Thursday, November 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

A native of McDowell County, he was born January 10, 1949 to the late Floyd Pittman and Josie Wheeler Pittman.

Cecil worked in construction his whole life and will be remembered as a hard worker. He often worked from sun up to sun down to provide for his family. He instilled these values of hard work and service to his family. Cecil was a character with an incredible sense of humor. He was a tradesman who was always looking for a good deal. He loved tinkering and being in the outdoors, and he was a humble man who enjoyed helping others in the community. Cecil’s love for his family was great. He always made sure he told them how much he loved and appreciated them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Lucinda Pittman; a son-in-law, Shane Wyatt; and two siblings, Charles Pittman and Margaret Elliott.

He is survived by five children, Tonya Stephenson (Jon), Shawna Lytle (Jacob), Terra Wyatt, Jason Pittman (Stephanie), and Jesse Pittman; 21 grandchildren, Jessiah Stephenson (Carly), Karis Malone (Ian), Alana Stephenson, Hannah Jo Stephenson, Elijah Stephenson, Madison Lytle, Luke Lytle, Zane Wyatt, William Wyatt, Brett Pittman, Alex Pittman, Alaia Pittman, Maxon Pittman, Daisy Pittman, Samuel Pittman, Gavin Frisbee, Lydia Lonon, Jackson Beck, Iliza Pittman, Floyd Pittman, and Savannah Miller; two great grandchildren, Jamison Stephenson and Mikah Malone; three siblings, Hazel Hensley, Sib Vess, and Frances Parker (Howard); a stepdaughter, Marti Weiler and her son, Adrian; a sister-in-law, Shirley Pittman; his former wife and lifelong friend, Monecca Pittman; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Old Fort with Pastor Jeffrey Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Pittman Family Cemetery.
