Cecil Gene Ollis

Cecil Gene Ollis, age 73, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Ollis was born November 5, 1944 in Avery County to Edith Barrier Ollis Singleton of Morganton and to the late George Ollis. He was an extremely hardworker and was very talented.  He worked for Hanes for 17 years with perfect attendance.  After their closing, he then went to work for Viscotec until his retirement.  He was an outdoorsman and loved the mountains.  He especially loved fishing and camping.

In addition to his father, preceding him in death are two brothers.

In addition to his mother, left behind to cherish Mr. Ollis’ memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Carolyn St. John Ollis; three children, Michael Ollis and wife, Summer, Lisa Sigmon and husband, Tad, and Tammy Beane and husband, Kevin; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters; and four brothers.  He also leaves three special friends, Bill Bowman and Jim and Shirley McDaniels.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church on Jamestown Road in Morganton, with Pastor Doug St. John officiating.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  Beam Funeral Service & Crematory to help the family with funeral expenses.
