Cassie Mae Buchanan

March 29, 1949 — June 7, 2017

 

 

Cassie Mae McMurray Buchanan, affectiontly known as “Mamaw Cassie”, age 68, while surrounded by her loving family, passed away on Wednesday, June 07, 2017 at the SECU Hospice House in Forest City.  The daughter of the late Lee McMurray, Sr. and Nancy Bethany McMurray, she was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee on March 29, 1949.  She is also preceded in death by one son, Vernon Buchanan.

 

“Mamaw Cassie”, who was known to be strong, happy and loved meeting new people, enjoyed singing and reading her bible. She was a member of Hugs Cancer Survivors and attended Camp Bluebird Cancer Retreat.  She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Marion. 

 

She is survived by five children, Brooke Wright (Adam), Roland Buchanan (Sarina), Robert Jackson (Peg), Grant Buchanan (Christy) and Ricky Buchanan (April); one sister, Elsie Tipton; fifteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

 

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Withrow officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
