Carroll Alvin Dotson, age 83, of Old Fort, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Buncombe County, Carroll was born on May 30, 1935 to the late Jason and Alma Israel Dotson.
Carroll was a faithful member and deacon of the Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church for twenty-seven years. He was a proud United States Army Veteran and loved to play the guitar. Carroll was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known as a gentle and kind man.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Patsy Buckner Dotson; two children, Amy Wilson and husband David and Madina Elliott and husband Brian; and one sister, Margaret Padgett. Also surviving Carroll are three grandchildren, Mason Lee Alvin Elliott, Alexis Ann Dotson and Kaden Keith Dotson and a number of nieces and nephews including Lorie Nichols and husband Jerry.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Carroll’s life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Johnny Chastain and Lattie Slagle officiating. Burial with military honors by the United States Army will follow the service at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
