Carrie Barker Fields

Carrie Barker Fields, age 84, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the SECU Inpatient Unit in Forest City, while under the care of Hospice of Rutherford County.  A native of Russell County, Virginia, she was born May 6, 1933 to the late Melvin and Elizabeth Lawson Barker.

Carrie, in her spare time, enjoyed reading and sewing.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was a member of Parker’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and was faithful to the church up until her health began to decline.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Olen Fields and three brothers, Melvin Barker, Jr., Garland Creech and Charlie Creech.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her four children, Elizabeth Correll and her husband, Clarence, Debbie Webb and her husband, Steve, Robert Fields and his wife, Sheila and Rebecca Hollifield and her husband, Bobby Wayne, who was a very special son-in-law to Carrie.  She is also survived by two brothers, William Barker and his wife, Margaret and Marvin Barker; five grandchildren, Cindy (Brent), Penny, Chris (Kim), Hannah (Allen), Sarah (Seth) and Daniel (Jessica); and eight great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Carrie will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Victor Worley and Pastor Brian Gentry officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
