Carolyn Louise Messer

Mrs. Carolyn Louise Porter Messer, age 79 of Marion, departed this earthly world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 03, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side. Born on May 27, 1940, in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Porter and Marie Owensby Porter.

A charter member of New Horizon Baptist Fellowship, Carolyn was known for her love for all, especially her family. Her family describes her as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put others before herself.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by her beloved husband Bill Messer, as well as a sister, Shirley Mabe.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Denise Morrow (Bill); two grandchildren, Brandi Duncan (Stephen), and Brittany Morrow (Tyler), and two great grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Duncan. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors including Margaret Johnson, Margaret Hughes, and Irva Byrd, as well as her special caregiver and friend, Amy Allison.

A service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, December 06, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at New Horizon Baptist Fellowship

A private graveside service will be held at McDowell Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Bill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carolyn’s honor can be made to New Horizon Baptist Fellowship, 5878 US Hwy 221 North, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
