To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
On January 9, our mother, Carolyn Mae Cody Hicks, went into the presence of her Lord.
What a beautiful thought to know she is free of the confinement of a broken body. She is free to run with joy and laughter as she embraces not only her Lord and Savior, but the ones that have gone on before her.
This includes her husband Fred, great-grandson, Daniel, and her first grandchild, Chris.
What a glorious hope we have as her children to join with her and be reunited forever in the place Jesus has prepared for those who hope and trust in Him.
Awaiting that day to join her are her children; Sheila Mays, Debbie & John Tyler, Wanda and Jeff Wood, Keith Hicks, Linda and Mike Wiggins, and Mary and Joe McNeill.
Mom was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Also left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Wilma Lail (Jimmy) and Revena Dellinger.
Our mother loved to give. Whether it was food, homemade quilts, mailing cards to those in need, or prayers, she always wanted to give to someone who was in need.
Her pride and joy was her family. She knew the importance of staying connected together and overcoming all life’s hurtles with family by your side.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
If you would like to remember our mom, consider giving to Samaritan Purse- Operation Christmas Child.
We would like to thank Autumn Care and all the staff that took care of our mother during the last five years of her life on this earth.
