Carolyn Jones

On the evening of Saturday, May 12, 2018, Carolyn Effler Jones, age 70, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away peacefully at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Carolyn was born on January 19, 1948 to the late Irene Knupp Effler and James Bulow Effler. 
 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Jones Ledford.
 

Carolyn was employed with Mission Hospital-McDowell for over twenty five years. Her life was her family. She enjoyed attending dance recitals, ballgames, dance and cheerleading competitions, family vacations and getting together with her family during the holidays. Some of her other passions were working in her yard, tending to her flowers and decorating for every season.
 

Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Tammie Fortune and husband Jeff and Lacey Jones and fiance' Corey Ruiz; one son-in-law, Alvin Ledford; four sisters, Sarah Bright and husband Ray, Ollie Effler, Evelyn Young and Bernice Ewart. Also surviving Carolyn are her grandchildren, Ericka Jones and her sons Cooper, Greyson and Malacheigh, Colten Fortune and his wife Melody, Kansas Lowery, Baylee Fortune and one soon to be granddaughter, Mya Ruiz.
 

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Father Mike Cogsdale and Mr. Colten Fortune officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
