Carl Barnard Hyder, Jr., age 96, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, January 03, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Mecklenburg County on December 18, 1924 to the late Carl Barnard Hyder, Sr. and Connie Haney Hyder.
Carl was a printer with the Charlotte Observer for over 20 years. He honorably served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of the Rutherford Church of Christ. Known as a hard worker, he loved his time as a beekeeper. He was a great husband and father who loved his children and grandchildren immensely. Carl was truly the salt of the Earth and will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Lotte Hyder; second wife, Sue Goodman Hyder; a son, Heinrich Donald Hyder; three brothers, Cecil, Donald, and Norman Hyder; and one sister, Maxine Hyder.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret McPherson and husband Jerry and Melinda Cox and husband Kenneth; five grandchildren, Zachary Hyder, Leigh Kennedy, Reid McPherson, Medeus Cox, and Cory Cox; and four great grandchildren, Jackson Kennedy, Grayson Kennedy, Aubrey Cox, and Kristopher Sowers.
A private graveside service will be held at the Red Oak Church of Christ Cemetery in Weaverville.
