Carl Denney

Carl Denney, age 91, of Marion, passed away peacefully June 22, 2016, with his loving family by his side. Carl was a native of McDowell County, born on February 22, 1925, and was the son of the late Joseph Denney and Fullwood Mace Denney.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Evia Biddix Denney, a daughter Beverly Ann Denney, and a great grandson Benjamin Hicks.

Carl was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II.  He retired from the Department of Transportation with thirty years of service. Carl also was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Mr. Denney is survived by his three sons, Robert “Bobby” Denney and wife Linda, Jerry Denney and wife Gloria and Clifford Denney.  Carl is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert Denney and wife Stacie, Laura Lee Denney and husband Travis Hicks, Jared Denney, and Kendra Denney; three great grandchildren Nicholas Denney, Kaylee Denney, and Avery Hicks; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Denney will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Wise officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service, at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
