Burton S. Noonan

February 6, 1940 — September 7, 2017

 

 

Burton S. Noonan, age 77, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away at his home on the morning of Thursday, September 07, 2017 with his family at his side.  The son of the late Cleveland and Lottie McComb Noonan, Burton was born on February 06, 1940 in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Lawrence Noonan, Ralph Noonan, George Noonan, Earl Noonan, Sr. and Dale Tallman; five sisters, Maxine Morton, Erma Knight, Margaret Sharp, Dora Noonan and Stella Tallman; and his canine side kick, Jolene.

 

Burton was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and in his spare time enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and cooking them a meal.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jo Ann Noonan; three children, Christopher Noonan (Toni), Sara “Sissy” Noonan and Ryan Martin Noonan (Tanya); one sister, Joy Belle Knight; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and canine companions, Sugar, Fella and Cocoa.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 09, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service & Crematory with Chaplain Richard Anderson officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Chaplain Richard Anderson and the staff of Hospice of McDowell County for the exceptional care that they provided for Mr. Noonan and his family during this difficult time.
