Buddy Smith

Clayton “Buddy” Smith, age 67, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his son’s residence in the North Cove Community while under the care of CarePartners Hospice & Palliative Care-McDowell.  Born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on February 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Cloyd and Virgie Smith.

An avid collector of antique hot wheels and drink bottles, Buddy always stayed busy and was a hard worker up until his health began to decline.  He dearly loved his family and his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rex Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Smith; two sons, Tim Smith and his fiancée, Missy Cantrell; and Buddy Smith and his wife, Andrea; five grandchildren, TJ Smith, Buddy Smith, Jr., Anthony Smith, Kyle Smith and Brooke Smith; five great grandchildren, Elijah Smith, Bryson Smith, Avery Smith, Makayla Smith and Maverick Smith; six sisters, Ruth McKinney, Judy Buchanan, Ruby Barlow, Jo Kreigh, Gail Patterson and Vicki Sanders; and two brothers, Ren Smith and Terry McKinney.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion.  A graveside service will follow at Berry Chapel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine with Minister Jeffrey Wheeler and Pastor Jason Bright officiating.
