Bryan David Chapman, 61, of Marion, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation.
A native of McDowell County, he was born July 24, 1962 to the late Marion Decatur Chapman and Olive Mae Crane Chapman. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Chapman; and one sister, Yvonne Shehan (James).
Bryan, who was affectionately known as “Boo Bear,” will be remembered as a gentle giant. He was always very giving and considerate of others around him. For many years, Bryan worked as a Corrections Officer, and he was also an over-the-road truck driver. He loved being on the road and especially enjoyed his runs on the west coast. He had completed BLET training and had formerly served as a Volunteer Fireman. He had served with the National Guard as well. Bryan was a wonderful craftsman who enjoyed making models of tanks and airplanes. He was an avid fisherman and had a fondness for bears and RC cars as well. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two children, Jessica Chapman and Ian David Chapman; four step-children, Mia Mills, Jeremy Guffey, Ashton McCarson, and Stephanie Morrison; seventeen grandchildren; one sister, Donna Ellis of Gastonia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
