Brenda Kay Woodby Johnson, 73, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 14, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Yancey County on March 25, 1952 to the late Bill Woodby and Honnie Bryant Woodby.
Brenda was a longtime, faithful member of Hefner Memorial Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher over the years, and she was very instrumental with Bible School by making sure all could attend. She truly loved the Lord with all her heart. Brenda loved people, and she spent her life caring for children and the elderly. She enjoyed tending to needs around her home which included cooking, canning, and gardening. Her family held a special place in her heart, especially her grandchildren who she often spoiled. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved son, T.A. Boysworth, III, and two brothers, Ronnie Woodby and Albert Woodby.
She is survived by her husband, Elihu Clayton Johnson; five children, Matt Johnson (Genia), Molly Johnson, Amanda Crowder (Jacob), Clifford Johnson (Lindsey), and Clayton Johnson (Ashley); seventeen grandchildren, Trent Johnson (Sarah), Luke Johnson (Riley), Joe Johnson, Hank Johnson, Anna Eiriksson, Zion Eiriksson, Trinity Eiriksson, December Eiriksson, Derek Crowder, Ella Crowder, Katie Crowder, Amelia Crowder, Hoyt Johnson, Hattie Johnson, Huxley Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, and Silas Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Maverick Johnson and Colt Johnson; and five siblings, Pat Thomas (Scott), Pam Young (Jeff), Marcia Robinson (Randall), Billy Woodby, and Danny Woodby.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Hefner Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Hollifield, Pastor Charley Bradley, and Pastor Jacob Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery.
