Brenda "Faye" Pannell

During the early morning hours of Sunday, January 19, 2020, Mrs. Brenda “Faye” Pannell, age 77 of the Montford Cove Community, departed from this earthly world to be with the Lord at her home with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late George Washington Smith and Lector Lee Laughter Smith, she was born in McDowell County on February 24, 1942.

Faye was a member of Montford Cove Baptist Church, where she loved serving the Lord. She was an avid canner and loved to cook, as well as spending her time fishing. Faye was a devoted wife, beloved mother, and loving grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Jonas Smith.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband of sixty-two love filled years, Paul Pannell, and four wonderful children, Spencer Pannell (Lesa), Robin Pannell (Carolyn), Victor Pannell (Pam), and Jody Pannell Tate (Paul). She also leaves behind six loving grandchildren, Brandi Fore (Brandon), Ashley Crisp, Kayla Pannell, Brittany Pannell, Amber Pannell, and Rachel Tate; as well as nine precious great grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate Faye’s homegoing will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at Montford Cove Baptist Church with Reverend Shawn Berryhill and Brandon Fore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the church.

A private interment will take place at the Pannell Family Cemetery in Montford Cove.
