On the evening of Monday, February 10, 2020, Mr. Bobby Woodrow Waldroup, age 78 of Marion, departed from the physical world at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville. Born on June 20, 1941 in Madison County, he was the son of the late Roby Waldroup and Maybell Price Waldroup.
Bobby was retired from Drexel Heritage following thirty-five years of dedicated service. He loved being out on the green for a round of golf, working in his blueberries or grafting fruit trees. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved more than anything else.
Preceding Bobby in death in addition to his parents are his father-in-law Bart Lockman; brother, Larry Waldroup, and granddaughter, Molly Rose.
Left to cherish Bobby’s precious memories are his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Hazel Waldroup; three children, Jeff Waldroup (Jeana), Jaynie Morgan (Roy), and Lynn Rose; mother-in-law, Thelma Lockman; five siblings, Tommy Waldroup (Barbara), Lucille Rollins (George), Frances Norton (Glenn), Katy Hunter (Kenneth), and Betty Jo Taylor (Dale). Bobby also leaves behind five grandchildren, Christopher Morgan, Phillip Morgan (Rachel), Devon Rose, Chelsea Morgan, and Cameron Waldroup, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at the Liberty Cemetery in Madison County, North Carolina, with the Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 5:00 P.M., until 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service.
