Bobby Jack Truett

Bobby Jack Truett, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation in Nebo, at the age of 81.  A native of Cherokee County, North Carolina, born on December 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Bronce and Elma Jones Truett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by infant daughter, Brenda Truett; three brothers, Neal Truett, Jerry Truett and Ronnie Truett; and one sister, Helen Padgett.

Bobby, who loved his family, church family and friends, proudly served as a deacon at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Nebo. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Howell Truett; two sons, Rocky Truett of Nebo; and Randey Truett and his wife, Susan of Granite Falls’ one sister, Marie Jaynes and her husband, Donald of Nebo; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law; Chris Truett of Nebo, Linda Truett of Burlington, Helen Truett of Nebo, Judy Lloyd of Morganton, Patricia Mathis of Hildebran and Martha Howell of Drexel; brothers-in-law, Bobby Howell and his wife, Chrissy of Morganton and Jimmy Howell and his wife, Sallie of Gastonia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Jerome Walker officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the church.
