Bobbie Queen, age 86, of Marion, NC went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 23, 2017 surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Bobbie was born July 3, 1931 in McDowell County, NC to the late, Clifton and Mollie England. She retired from Southern Devices and spent her life as a homemaker where she helped raise innumerable children. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and cooking. She loved her family immensely and enjoyed family gatherings and laughter. Her children and grandchildren learned from her life lessons, positive influence, work ethic and wisdom. She was the perfect example of a mother’s love. She loved unconditionally but was quick with a switch to instill discipline. She was a loving and devoted Christian who spent many hours praying for her family and loved ones. She always made guests feel welcome in her home and made sure they were well fed. Bobbie was known for her feisty yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Teague Queen; her son, Claude Lee Queen; and her sisters, Betty Johnson and Iris Hildebrand; and a great grandson, Nicolas Gage Cooper.

Left behind to cherish her memory are one sister, Mary Epley of Nebo; one brother, Sonny England (Evelyn) of Hickory; one son, Robert Allen Queen (Linda) of Old Fort; two daughters, Donna Finley (Ken) of Marion and Iris Bowman (Tony) of Nebo; one daughter-in- law, Wanda Queen of Nebo; seven grandchildren, Chris Taylor (Kim) of Connelly Springs, Casey Taylor (Tabatha) of Nebo, Cresta McLaughlin (Allen) of Old Fort, Amanda Finley of Marion, Melissa Bowman of Nebo, Tommy Bowman, Jr. of Nebo and Paige Ziegler (David) of Old Fort; twenty-one great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was very special to Celia and Daniel Roberts, as well as, numerous children she nurtured throughout her life.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Daniel Roberts, Darrell England, Hunter Hodge, Karsten Vance, Andrew Taylor, Tyler Taylor, Travis Taylor and Johnny Mann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Buchanan and Corey Elder. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Edward St. Bernard and staff.
