Billy Padgham, age 82, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born on June 19, 1937, he was the son of the late James and Helen Thurman Padgham.
A very loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Billy formally served as the Chief of Old Fort Fire Department, was a former Master Mason for the Joppa Lodge 401 in Old Fort, and he proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Old Fort.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy Padgham; two sons, James Padgham and John Padgham (Lisa); three daughters, Teresa Vess (Randy), Barbara Gautney (Tim) and Pam Osbon (David); one sister, Gayle Louise Padgham and one brother, Richard Padgham (Marie). Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Kayla Parker, Aaron Padgham, Mike Vess, Tyler Vess, Kyle Toney, Tyler Gautney, Cory Silvers and Sara Key; and a number of great grandchildren.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Pastor Keith Jamison officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.
