Betty A. Mitchell

Betty A. Mitchell, age 83, of Nebo, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. A native of McDowell County, Betty was born on September 17, 1936 to the late Geter and Gladys Henry.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1996, Jimmy Mitchell, her sister, Doris and brother, Jimmy Robert.

Betty loved arts and crafts, collecting antiques and cooking. She was an open-hearted person and loved everyone. But most of all she loved her family and grandchildren dearly.

Betty is survived by five children, Alan, Theresa, Sherry, Rodrigues and Danny; her siblings, Opal, Sonny, Arnell, Shirley, Cleo and Roberta.  Also surviving Betty are twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will take place on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Larry Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., thirty minutes prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
