Betty Jean Lonon

November 8, 1954 — May 21, 2020

Betty Jean Lonon, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 21, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born November 8, 1954, in Rochester, New York to the late Robert and Marie Behrns. Betty married her best friend, Van Harold Lonon, on October 14, 1978.

Betty embodied the belief that motherhood was the most fundamentally important work she could do. She partnered with her loving husband, Van, to build their home on Biblical principles and surrounded by love. Betty leaves a legacy of the beauty and importance of motherhood and friendship in her family and those who knew her closely.

Betty’s legacy will live on through her loving husband, Van; her brother, Richard Behrns (wife Anita); her daughter, Sarah Creson (husband Tommy); her five sons, Jason Lonon (wife Joy), Brian Lonon (wife Penny), Matthew Lonon (wife Nikki), Daniel Lonon (wife Rebekah), and William Lonon; and fifteen beautiful grandchildren.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church in Marion, North Carolina with Pastor Ethan Hester officiating. The family will celebrate Betty’s life in a private burial service prior to the celebration.
