Betty Ledbetter

Betty Pyatt Ledbetter, age 80, of the Glenwood Community, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.  Her loving family was by her side.  Born in McDowell County, North Carolina on April 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William McKinley “Kin” and Alma Reel Pyatt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Floy Amanda Hawkins.

A faithful wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Betty not only loved spending time with her family, but spending time with her cats as well.  When she was able, she enjoyed tending to her flowers.  Betty retired from Continental Teves in Morganton and was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where she proudly served as the organist and would decorate the church for each holiday. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years and 8 months, James “Jim” Ledbetter; two sons, James Ledbetter, Jr. and William “Bill” Ledbetter (Wanda); one sister, Lola Davis (J.B.); one granddaughter, Stephanie Ledbetter (Chris Mills); one great granddaughter, Taylor Ledbetter; two step-grandsons, Jonathan Clark (Tami) and Jeremy Clark; two step-great granddaughters, Hailey Clark and Maci Ella Clark; and one nephew, Larry Davis.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jonathan Watson officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
