Betty Jean Gregory Lamb

Betty Jean Gregory Lamb, 87, of Nebo, passed from this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. 

A native of McDowell County, Betty was born on June 23, 1937 to the late Laney Gregory. She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Lamb; sister, Thelma Gregory; brother, Leroy Gregory; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Banks. 

Betty held a career in the inspection department at Clevenger's Hosiery Mill. Beyond her job, Betty enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests that defined her vibrant personality. She had a particular fondness for exploring yard sales and thrift stores, where she often found hidden treasures. Shopping held a special place in her heart, whether it was for groceries or unique items that caught her eye, and she continued this passion until her health declined recently. Her family will fondly remember her wonderful cooking and baking skills as well as her love for sewing, cleaning, and taking care of her home. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Porter “Bo” Lamb (Christine), Cynthia Elliott (Rollins), John Lamb, Ann Ramsey (Donald), and a special daughter, Misty Seagle (Andy); eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.
