Shortly after midnight on Saturday, December 15, 2018, Betty Lee Evans, age 82, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord while at the Elizabeth House Inpatient Hospice in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Born in Burke County, North Carolina on July 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Della Allman Maples.
Betty is also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Jim” Evans; and one sister, Kathleen Hayes.
A member of First Christian Church of Marion, she took great pride in serving the Lord, and never missed an opportunity to minister to someone. One of her favorite scriptures from the Bible was Psalms 91. Betty enjoyed listening to music, and she loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Cox and her husband, Jimmy of Marion; two grandsons, Timothy Saulman and Thomas Saulman (Karen Hyatt); nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor the life of Betty will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Marion with Rev. Don Mitchell officiating.
