Betty English

Betty English, 77, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Rutherford County on November 14, 1944 to the late Tom Ward and Hassie Gardner Collins. She is also preceded in death by her son, Christopher Wayne English.

Betty was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church since 1972. She loved the Lord and her family, and she was known to always put others before herself. Betty enjoyed the beauty of the ocean and thoroughly enjoyed her last trip there.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Douglas Wayne English; her son, Mark Harkleroad (Kathy); brother, Steve Gardner (Shelby); four grandchildren, Casey, Christy, Noah, and Hannah; five great grandchildren, Zander, Colton, Christian, Jonathan, and Paislee; two nephews, Steven and Spencer Gardner; and special friends, Linda Radford, Susie Causby, Glenna McCracken, Trish Cox, Angie Arrowood, and Terri Williams.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Junior Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
