Betty Chrisawn

     Betty Jewell Kirby Chrisawn, 85, of Marion, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at her residence.

     Betty was born in Yancey County, NC on July 15, 1937, to the late Gid Malcom Kirby and Martha Henson Kirby. She was married to her husband of 67 years, Finley Chrisawn and was a member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. She worked for 26 years as a CNA at Autumn Care of Marion. Betty lived for her family and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Her greatest pleasure was cooking and spending time with her family.

     In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorrie Ann Chrisawn.

     She is survived by her husband, Finley Chrisawn; three children, Mike Chrisawn (Robin), Lynn Presnell, and Kay Higgins (Juan); two sisters, Shirley Buchanan and Grace McHone; six grandchildren, Chrystal, Sarah, Shane, Chad, Derek, and Ashley; and numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

     A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Rick Wood will officiate. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
