Betty Joyce Sorrells Chapman

In the early morning hours of Monday, February 21, 2022, Betty Joyce Sorrells Chapman passed away at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 24, 1937 in Buncombe County to the late Ernest Sorrells and Jessie Miller Sorrells.

Along with her parents and husband, David Willis Chapman, she is preceded in death by a son, David Franklin Chapman; her siblings, Eugene, Jay, Ray, Morris, Jack, Bob, Maggie, Jennie and Albert.

Betty was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and woodcrafting. Known as a loving mother and grandmother, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories are three children, Tim Chapman (Debbie), Kathy Nanney (Rick) and John Chapman; her grandchildren, Mike Nanney (Laura Beth), Matthew Nanney (April), Tim Chapman, Jr. (Jessica), Brittany Greene (Anthony), Marcus Chapman, Chris Waldroup (Shannon), Amanda Dalton (Jamie) and Alyaha Chapman. Also surviving Betty are great-grandchildren, Ethan Chapman, Eli Chapman, Zachary Greene, Clayton Nanney (Brooke), Brooklyn Nanney, Ryan Nanney, Archer Johnson, Aubrey Nanney, Rhylee Nanney, Ciera Waldroup, Neavah Waldrop, Arianna Jones, Alayah Chapman, Braylin Waldroup and her special friend, Nellie Elliott.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Chris Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
