Ms. Bernice Holtsclaw Cable, age 96 of Marion, passed away peacefully at Autumn Care of Marion during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 07, 2019. A native of Elizabethton, Tennessee, she was born on June 21, 1923 to the late John and Zealie Holtsclaw.
A member of Grandview Baptist Church, Bernice was known to have a love of crocheting, fishing, and traveling. Her family describes her as having been a wonderful cook. Bernice loved her family and especially her canine companion, Kenny. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Cable; one child at birth; and five siblings, Dimple Holtsclaw, Effie Holtsclaw Whitehead, Cline Holtsclaw, Reese Holtsclaw and William Holtsclaw.
Left to cherish her memory are a special niece, Gloria Whitehead; four sisters-in-law, Mary Morefield (Bill), Ila Lewis (Jerry), Wilma Russell (Ronnie) and Marlene Cable; and her five brothers-in-law, Alan Fincher (Melodi), Everette Cable (Genevia), Gerald Cable (Helga), Eddie Cable (Jenny) and Donald Cable (Faye). She also leaves behind special friends, Marie Wiggins, Veronica Wiggins, Jessie Hensley, Paul Presnell, and Barbara McFarland, who she thought of as a daughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Bernice’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 09, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. Charles Dicks officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
