Bernard Graham Kendall, 83, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Anson County on January 30, 1938.
Bernard was a deacon at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, but became involved with Bethlehem Baptist Church when he moved to the area. He was also involved with the Myrtle Grove Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a quiet man whose generous actions spoke for him. Bernard could build anything and spent lots of time in his workshop. His sense of humor and smile that could light up a room will not be forgotten. He worked for General Electric where he was known as the “Coffee Man.” Bernard was a dedicated family man who leaves big shoes to fill.
He is preceded in death by his parents C.P. and Ollie Irene Kendall; his daughter, Melanie Baker; and eight brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kendall; two sons, Reid Kendall (Heather) and Daniel Kendall (Deborah); four grandchildren, Zack Kendall, Seth Kendall, Hunter Kendall, and Jacob Cole (Charity); and son-in-law, Anthony Baker.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A procession will leave the funeral home immediately following the visitation for a graveside service at Bethlehem Community Cemetery with Rev. Tony Lunsford officiating.
