Benny Lee Hicks

Benny Lee Hicks, age 63, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 while at Autumn Care of Marion.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born November 12, 1952, he was the son of the late Floyd Hicks and Laura Woody Hicks of Marion.

Following more than 30 years of service, Benny retired from American Thread.  In his spare time, he enjoyed going to trade lots and attending gem shows. 

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Wood Hicks. 

Benny is survived by, in addition to his mother, one brother, Ransom Hicks (Peggy); niece, Kristi Lankford (Russell); one great nephew, Gage Parkins; and two great nieces, Katie Parkins and Abbie Lankford.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at McDowell Memorial Park with Rev. Bruce Ward officiating.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Hospice of McDowell and Autumn Care of Marion for the loving and compassionate care they provided Benny and his family during this time.
