Benjamin Franklin Herrick, Jr.

Benjamin Franklin Herrick, Jr., 61, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away Friday, July 01, 2022 at Atrium Health in Concord surrounded by his family.

A native of Burke County, he was born on November 25, 1960 to the late Benjamin Franklin Herrick, Sr. and Bettie Epley Herrick.

Mr. Herrick was a 1979 graduate of Freedom High School. Known as Junior to his family and Ben to his friends, he was an avid gun collector who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He enjoyed his Corvette and motorcycle. Above all else, his family was most important to him. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Lee Herrick and Ernest “Bradley” Herrick; nephew, Christopher Scott Herrick; and his grandparents on both sides of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mao Lo Herrick; two daughters, Mandy Letterman (Derek) and Ashley Herrick (Xavier Norwood); four grandchildren, Preston Letterman, Aubrey Letterman, Alex O’Neil, and Amir Norwood; two siblings, Frances Floretta Herrick and Nathan Patrick Herrick (Melissa); sisters-in-law, Charlene Lowery Herrick and Robin Watts Herrick; two nieces, one nephew, and their children, and cousins; and his special canine companions, Alpha and Gypsy.

A private family memorial service will be held.
