Barbara Ann Wilson, age 75, of Newland, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 03, 2021 at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Spruce Pine.  The daughter of the late Joey and Virginia Holtsclaw Brown, she was born on January 25, 1946 in Avery County, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Wright Puett; grandson, Clarence “Cody” Marshall Puett; one brother, Junior Brown; one sister, Belinda Lou Lovett; and her grandparents.

Known as a big “prankster” with a great sense of humor, Barbara enjoyed being outdoors, especially when she was able to attend to her flowers, and watching her red birds.  A kind and loving soul who would do anything for anyone, she had worked at Baxter Healthcare for 25 years.  Barbara was a hard worker and a true fighter, which is what kept her here for 75 years.  A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she cherished the times she had with her children, grandchildren and great grandson. 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jimmy Dean Wilson; one daughter, Lisa Ann Nelson (Stephen); one daughter-in-law, Lorie Ann Wright; one granddaughter, Autumn Nelson Miller (Silas); one great grandson, Colton Lane Baird; and six siblings, Mable Clark, Brenda Jane (Allen), Bobby Joe Brown, Mike Brown (Janice), Helen Brown and Lana Kay Buchanan (Tim); two stepsons, Randy Wilson (Jill) and Rodney Wilson; one step granddaughter Layla Wilson.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 08, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Rev. Donald Gregg officiating.  Interment will follow at Jonas Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Wilson’s memory are asked to consider the Wilson family, 2170 Rutherford Road, Marion, North Carolina 28752.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice and Home Care of The Blue Ridge for the extraordinary care they provided Barbara and her family during her final journey.
