Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Wright Adams

Barbara Ann Wright Adams, 76, of Nebo passed away September 30, 2024, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City, with her loving family by her side. Bobbie, as she was known to close friends and family, was born December 25, 1947, in Woodstock, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Frederick Lee and Helen Blanche Looney Wright. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Hostetter.

Bobbie was the widow of the late Tim Adams with whom she shared nearly 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2016. They met as teenagers and would spend the next 55 years together finishing high school, graduating college, and raising two daughters. Comfort is found in knowing they have been reunited after 8 long years apart.

She is survived by two daughters: Kim Lewis of Nebo and Elizabeth Adams and husband, Aaron Vassey, of Rutherfordton, along with five grandchildren: Trey Lewis and wife, Taylor, Alex Lewis, Katie Vassey, Andrew Vassey, and Caleb Vassey; and her one and only great-grandchild, Riley Ann Lewis.

Bobbie loved being outdoors and could be found tending her garden, feeding the birds, and planting flowers. She also loved to sit beside her grandsons in the woods while they hunted or on the bank of a pond where they fished. She also loved jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and played a mean game of rummy. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and they knew that “Nanny,” as they affectionately called her, loved them unconditionally. The void her passing will leave for them cannot be measured.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal service will be held. A time of remembrance will be held at a later date, and details will be announced once finalized. She desired to be cremated and have her remains placed with her late husband’s. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of Rutherford County.
