Arnold Garrett Boone, age 94, entered into rest Saturday, September 29, 2018. Mr. Boone was born May 16, 1924 in Nebo, North Carolina to the late Edward D. Boone and the late Mary Ann Boone.
He was drafted into the US Army and actively served his country in WWII. He served a full tour and was stationed under General McArthur in the Philippines. Mr. Boone also guarded Japanize Prisoners of War. After the war, he was employed with General Motors until his retirement in his 70’s. He moved to Aiken, SC in the 1980’s, having lived in Flint, Michigan until his retirement. Mr. Boone always put the needs of his family first and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boone was preceded in death by his siblings: Cartha, Gurthle, Mary Catherine, Dan, and Edward.
He is survived by nephews, James K. Boone, Dr. Robert D. Boone (Nori Fields Boone), David Boone, all of Aiken, South Carolina, and Roger Jaynes, of Greenville, South Carolina; niece, Mary Elizabeth Boone, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Marion, North Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry Street NW, Aiken, South Carolina 29801.
