Arlene McClure Russell

Arlene McClure Russell, 70, of Old Fort, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. 

She was born in McDowell County on December 10, 1953 to the late Kelly McClure and Mittie Sue Smith McClure. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Clark.

Arlene was formerly employed at Parker’s Hosiery Mill and also Lake James Lodge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved her family wholeheartedly. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and it especially did her heart good to spend time with her grandson, Abel. Arlene enjoyed watching horror shows and getting out of the house to just ride around. She also loved visiting the Chinese restaurant. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, William Russell; two children, Adam Russell (Jayda) and Tami Russell (JR); three grandchildren, William Abel Russell, Tiffany, and Megan; five great grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Lail; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
