Archie Charles Turner also known as “Flip” or “Horse collar” and “POW POW to his grand babies, passed away on the night of Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Inpatient Unit in Forest City.
Archie was a fan of tall tales, big fish, NASCAR, and his family. Archie loved his family and his friends and was extreme in all that he did. He would love deeply, but he also told you like it was. Archie was saved shortly after the accident that left him paralyzed 27 years ago. He was not handicapped; however, he would tell you now he was “handicappable”. Archie lived a long-life making people smile, running things over, hence the name “flip”, and just being full of life. He also faced a lot of trials and has now received his new body and is running the street of gold.
He was preceded in death by his mama, Gladys Waters Turner; and then his daddy, George Washington Turner (August 25, 2019), who came back 16 hours later and took his baby boy home to heaven with him.
Archie is survived by his dainty baby girl, Jessica Crawford and son-in-law, Christopher; and three grandbabies, Cameron Crawford (12), Cayden Laws (10) and Abby Grace Crawford (4); siblings, Myron Turner (Sharon), Wanda Painter (Robbie), Ronald Turner (Cindy), Donald Turner, Randy Turner, Regina Thompson and Emily Hutchins (Tim); and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Archie’s life will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church of Rutherfordton, 224 Chimney Rock Road in Rutherfordton with Rev. Brian Hardin and Rev. Scott Huffine officiating. Those who wish to speak and/or share a memory are encouraged to do so as well.
At other times, the family will gather at Jessica’s residence.
